Abstract

The ‘Smart Grocer’ is a completely automated store which will enable the customers to get the desired products without the assistance of any human. The person will have a unique RFID card which will have his own identity and customer details. The RFID will contain the name, balance, data and other details about the customer. This will act as a smartcard for the customer. As soon as the customer will arrive at the Smart Grocer and swipe his ID card on the RFID reader, his details will be flashed on the screen. The screen will give some options as per the details of the available products in the store. The person will have to select commodity by selecting one of the many commodities available on the screen. The second option will be displayed to the customer regarding the quantity. The person will select the quantity and now the order will be processed by the microcontroller. The microcontroller used in this process is Arduino-UNO. It will process the inputs given. The actuators will start to react as soon as the processing is done. We have servo motors as the actuators in this project. The servo motor will rotate and the lid of containers will be rotated as per the motor. A separate container is used for every commodity and servo motor is used for the respective containers. As soon as the order is placed, the servo motor associated with the respective commodity will react and the lid will open. This will make the commodity fall and hence the customer will collect the desired outcome that is being served by our ‘Smart Grocer’. The RFID card will have balance as per the smartcard and it will get deducted automatically as soon as the customer gets the desired commodity. This will ensure that a manual task of a cashier is done automatically and the storekeeper will no longer need to assign a cashier to carry out the financial responsibilities.
