Abstract

The current study was carried out to study the anxiolytic and anti-depressant effect of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized using diosgenin at varying doses applying Elevated Plus Maze (EPM) and Forced swimming test (FST). Diazepam and Imiprazole were used as standards. Experimental mice spent more time in open arm after treatment in EPM. Significant dose dependent decline in immobility time was observed in FST. Antioxidant activity could be the possible rationale behind the observed anxiolytic and antidepressant effects of diosgenin and its AgNPs.
