Abstract

For decades statistical decision making has been dominated by p-values in international business and most other applied fields. This is in spite of the many criticisms that have been made both of p-values and how they are used in practice. Recently these criticisms have become so pervasive that the world’s largest community of statisticians has called for the end of the p-value monoculture. Academic journals have an important role to play in disciplinespecific knowledge advancement by articulating what criteria are to be used to assess data and theories, and results arising from their conjunction. This Perspectives describes a move to a more pluralistic perspective on statistics-based decision making at the Journal of World Business.
