Abstract
Hospital Acquired Infections are the infections acquired by the patient during his stay in the hospital. Poor hand hygiene in hospitals can increase the risk of infection and death of patients. The Patient Safeguard System is an innovative attempt to reduce cases of Hospital Acquired Infections caused by poor hand hygiene; the system involves the use of sanitizers with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Readers placed in each room. Every worker would use the sanitizers before approaching the patient. Their name tag would contain an RFID Tag which allows recording the use of sanitizers by a worker in a database. The entry log could be submitted at the end of their shift and then cross checked with the data from the dispensers, and action could be taken on errantworkers.
