Abstract

The International Criminal Court's (ICC) budget has become a central and often thorny point of discussion between the Court, NGOs, and the Assembly of States Parties. Some states have argued that the court can make do with its existing budget, while the court and many NGOs argue that it is underfunded. Underlying this debate is the question of whether the Court is efficient. This chapter explores these issues and assesses the ICC’s performance.
