Abstract
Quality in construction is the attainment of acceptable levels of performance from construction activities. Lack of construction quality is manifested in delays, poor and non-sustainable workmanship, unsafe structures, cost and time overruns and disputes. After the delivery of the project is when the quality of the project is actually gauged and measured by client or customer or end user and completely satisfying all at this stage is a huge challenge. Therefore from the initial construction stages only quality should be maintained. The aim of the project is to benchmark construction quality attributes for improving project management delivery and performance. Construction quality attributes are identified from literature study. An attempt has been made for benchmarking quality of construction by obtaining questionnaire responses from the construction industrialists. Finally fuzzy preference is performed performed on the questionnaire responses obtained from the respondents. Determining the construction industrialist’s point of view on attributes of construction quality is a necessary and important step towards benchmarking quality attributes for real improvement of project performance. Results of this study will help project team to improve overall project management delivery and performance.
