Abstract

A transition to a zero-carbon energy system will require profound social changes. The just transition efforts underway around the world provide the best strategies to protect vulnerable communities and the natural world from harmful disruption associated with decarbonization. Ensuring a just transition also requires strategic and comprehensive planning, rather than piecemeal policies.
