Abstract

Electrocaloric refrigeration technology could provide a ’green’ alternative to traditional energy guzzling gas-compression fridges and air conditioners. They would require 20-30 less energy to run than the best systems currently available. One of the most promising approaches for the realization of cooling device on the base of the Electrocaloric is a multilayered structure of ferroelectric. The performance of a Multilayer Electrocaloric Refrigeration System was then evaluated based on a simulation model with CFD COMSOL Multiphysics; developed in this study. The obtained results discussed in this work reveal important aspects of the electrocaloric effect as well as point out some new perspectives on this area of research.
