Promoting Sustainable FDI Through International Investment Agreements

Abstract

English Abstract:The author identifies ways to promote sustainable FDI through investment treaties, including by using contribution to development as a criterion when applying treaties, defining investment explicitly in reference to contribution to development, allowing governments to grant preferential treatment to sustainable FDI, and incorporating binding CSR references in investment treaties.

Chinese Abstract: 本文认为可以通过投资条约促进FDI的可持续发展，具体措施如下：将投资对东道国的贡献作为条约适用性的标准；明确定义FDI对东道国发展贡献的定义；允许政府对可持续的外国直接投资给予优惠待遇；将企业社会责任纳入投资条约。
