Effect of Tool on FSW Joint of 6082 AL Alloy by Taguchi Method

In the present paper Friction-stir technology which talks about the deformation of plastic which is nerve centre of friction stir welding(FSW) is used which joins two different work geometries without melting the work piece material.The results were analyzed using Taguchi method a Japanese technology.In friction stir welding the zone of area which is free from any imperfection can be taken when the tool is advised to be significant.Most heat generation area is shoulder area,which consists of mainly flat or tapered shapes.The friction stir welding is the solid state joining process in which coalescence is produced by time,adequate pressure and temperature without much melting of the base material. The effects of various parameters of FSW welding process like speed of rotation, depth of cut, feed rate, diameter of probe, diameter of shoulder, welding speed have been examined to disclose their outcome on welding joint and result is diagnosed and analyzed by Taguchi technology. Experiments were scheduled according to the design of experiment (DOE) technique which uses L-9 Standard Orthogonal Array. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) indicate that the calculated mathematical model is sufficient to describing the performance within the factors being studied. In the present paper we have displayed the wear characteristics during Friction stir welding using three parameters of 6082 Aluminium alloy. Three levels of each parametric condition has been applied and analyzed by Taguchi optimization technique.
