Abstract

Economics takes the individual as given. Economics being a science of values and wealth it has consequences in deciding the wealth of people and the planet. We need to problematize the privilege the ‘individual’ enjoys in the economic rhetoric (McCloskey, 1983) as we are in a historical juncture of anthropocene and climate change. The paper explores the epistemological development and collapse of the idea of individual and suggests alternative economic thinking and names it as “field economics”.

Keywords: Field Economics, individual, induviduation, theodicy, anthropocene, Oikonomia
