Abstract

English Abstract: This paper distinguishes two types of relativizer "što": declinable "što" and indeclinable "što". They differ in the ability of following a preposition, introducing a free relative clause; only one of them is replaceable by the pronominal relativizer "koji", etc. A corpus gathered form different functional styles of Serbo-Croatian has been used to describe the features of the two "što". The paper presents the differences among functional styles in the use of the two "što", the restrictiveness of the relative clauses introduced by them in comparison with restrictiveness of the relative clauses introduced by other relativizers, differences among the two relativizers in their antecedents, the usage of the resumptive pronoun in relative clauses introduced by the indeclinable "što", etc. Some questionable clauses introduced by "što" have also been analysed. The author's conclusion is that they can be considered relative clauses.
