Abstract

A clean and sustainable energy source is the primary need for the survival of any economy. Increasing population and the growing environmental concerns across the globe has added to the specification for the energy source. Extensively employed Bio fuel, coal & petrochemicals, are exhaustible and have a grave foot-print on environment. The other sources like the nuclear fission and the so-called non-renewable power source are not very comprehensively used. The new option of nuclear fusion is realized as a future power source. Nuclear fusion has almost zero environmental impact with an abundant raw material or fuel availability. The paper evaluated the nuclear fusion option with respect to the other existing power options and explores the capability for the same in terms of environmental impact, cost and other aspects.
