Abstract
Attitude is strength and attitude is a barrier. Attitude toward the teaching profession and its impact on their performance is vice-versa. To ensure child-friendly school the necessity of female teachers at the primary level is felt by the government and implementing a policy of recruiting 60% of female teachers in government primary schools in the country. The main objective of this exploratory study was to asses the attitudes and working spirit of the female teachers. The study shows that most of the teachers joined teaching because of respect for the teaching profession and desired to remain in an academic environment. They wanted to join the profession from their student life. It is alarming that some of them feel regrets as a teacher and they do not want their children to join this profession. Government needs to formulate new policy soon to make primary school teaching an attractive profession separate and higher salary structure and other benefits to be introduced.
