Abstract

Terrorism is today a topic of vital importance to the lives of millions of people around the world. It occurs in both wealthy and poor countries. Terrorists operate in democracies and authoritarian states. There is no single root cause of terrorism, or even a common set of causes. Sharing the different experiences of terrorism is therefore key to our ability to understand, deal with and eradicate terrorism and its effects. This remarkable volume provides a timely and important step in this process of building a common understanding of the horror of terrorism, a step toward shared solutions.
