Abstract

Blockchain is an exciting technology with great potential. For competition and competition policy, it offers a number of promising opportunities, which agencies will wish to explore. However, from the standpoint of antitrust law the concerns remain the same as in traditional markets. Agencies will therefore need to continue to apply their theories of harm, and to focus on understanding rivalry, substitutability and control of competing products.

Keywords: antitrust, competition, blockchain, trust, distributed, decentralised
