Abstract

Villages are like downstream to which a nation is connected. The role of village rulers is undoubtedly required to develop a nation. The 4.0 Industrial Revolution Era has provided challenges and opportunities for village rulers to develop villages they are ruling. This research is aimed to optimize the role of Village Heads for the progress of the nation in the 4.0 industrial revolution era. The research method is legal research with an analysis of prescriptive. The result of the conclusion that the existence of Village Heads is highly required to help improve villages’ economy, integrate the economy to reach a productive scale, improve the social and cultural life of village communities, and utilize appropriate technology to help improve the potential of villages optimally. This research also concludes that optimizing the performance of village heads is required for the sake of the nation’s progress since village heads serve as spearheads of village government and are responsible for the village they rule.
