Abstract

The significant holdup drawback in major cities is mainly attributed to the time spent across crowded traffic junctions, especially during peak hours. The traffic across junctions is controlled by signalling patterns. Junction timings allotted are fixed. Sometimes higher traffic density at one side of the junction demands longer green time as compared to the standard allotted time. This research is to introduce a dynamic traffic light system that can automatically adjust to the traffic conditions and intelligently make decisions to reduce in an optimal way. Vehicles are identified using RFIDs. Details of both incoming and outgoing vehicles will be captured at the junction. The details captured by the sensors are mounted on the road and sent to the decision-making unit. Those details will be recorded for future path predictions. The decision-making unit will make decisions based on the details of all the vehicles and their history. Finally, the decisions will be transmitted to traffic lights to show the relevant sign.
