Abstract
There exists a detailed body of international humanitarian law on the protection of tangible cultural heritage in armed conflict. Indeed, enthusiasm for the task and overlapping institutional mandates have led to a measure of over-proliferation. That said, the applicable rules are reducible to some relatively straightforward propositions, while the mandates and jurisdictions of the interested international bodies are mutually supportive. The chapter outlines these rules and the means for their enforcement, along with these institutions.
