Abstract

Sirisumanarama Rajan Maha Viharaya is a Buddhist heritage of Sri Lanka. That Temple Located in the Dikwella Divisional Secretariat Division in Matara District. This Monument is of historical an Archaeological value. This is an image house with painting of Kandy period. The main objective of this research paper was to present conservation remedies to identify this degradation and to propose conservation remedies. The research methods used to achieve these objectives were library studies and field study. The conservation proposal has been consulted in consultation with the conservationists. The peeling of the image house of Sirisumanarama Viharaya can be identified as damage. For this purpose, 50% ethanol syringes can be injected and 5% chemacril acrylic resin as the binding medium can be reinforced with a wet filling. The painting is also damaged by the insect’s actions. These site can be identified and cleaned and the injected in to the pores of the insect using brick powder and Makulu clay mortar. As a binding medium with 5% chemacril acrylic resin. At different time, different People have been used by unskilled officials to fill in the deep flaws and explosions in the painting. It is also a contributing factor the destruction of painting. The activities of the hadukuru have been a long time since the introduction of lanterns and lamp has caused the accumulation of dust. It can be remove dust with the help of very smooth brush. Also chemacril acrylic resin can be used a binding medium, using 50% ethanol. Brush, as a remedy for remedies for places where the painting of the image house are crushed. As a Buddhist heritage, the mural painting of the Sirisumanarama Raja Maha Vihara is a monument of historical and archaeological values, which belongs to the Kandy period. The mural painting in the temple is destroyed due to natural and human activities. To minimize the damage, painting should be protect by Scientific and chemical methods.
