Alcohol intake has occurred in India for many centuries. While the injurious effect of alcohol during pregnancy are entrenched, the significances of alcohol consumption through lactation have been far less studied. In chemistry, the term alcohol is used as a common or generic name to entitle numerous sequences of materials. Heavy drinking during pregnancy increases the risk to offspring. Alcohol consumption by a breastfeeding mother is very harmful for the infants. Excessive intake of alcohol by the pregnant woman can lead to a premature birth. If the mother consuming alcohol can cause drowsiness, deep sleep, abnormal weight, weakness.
