Abstract
Sexually transmitted infections are a major public health challenge today considering movement of people across different geographical regions of the world, and the dynamicity of culture resulting from interactions among different ethno-racial groups and the advent of technology. Despites all the measures that are being put in place; sexually transmitted infections seem to be on a hardly controllable move considering the alarming statistics of annual incidence rate. With regards to available data, adolescents are the worst hit group in the society. It may be said that this category is expected to be more exposed to information than any other categories of individuals; that will only be an unfounded assumption. This study was conducted in the University of Ibadan considering the fact that all students admitted into any undergraduate programme had all been exposed to instructions in ‘Reproductive Health, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (GES 107)’, especially in their freshman year.
Aims: The study intends to assess the knowledge of undergraduate students at the university on sexually transmitted infections and reconcile the effect on their attitude.
