Abstract
For a long time, EU law hardly played a role for the maritime sector, with the notable exception of the fisheries sector. In recent years, this has changed significantly, due to the increasing activity of the European Union in maritime matters. Written in particular with a readership in Lithuania in mind, but also of interest to readers elsewhere, both in and beyond the European Union, this article highlights the growing importance of the European Union for the development of domestic norms of maritime law.
