Abstract

The development of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and smart structure concepts in civil engineering field are gathering attention in academic research. Monitoring the structure to know the hidden structural damage due to fatigue, shear cracking, loss of stress, corrosion, earthquake and internal the structure minimize sudden failures. This paper presents the scope and reliability of Micro Mechanical sensors () application for SHM. Fabrication and types of materials used for MEM’s sensors with respect to sensitivity range, cost efficiency were also discussed.
