Abstract

In this paper, after a brief introduction about the Belt and Road Initiative, the author examines the mediation in the Chinese culture, the difference between Chinese mediation and Anglo-Saxon mediation; then the author sketches an overview of CICC (China’s International Commercial Court) and its rules and the role of arbitral institutions in “BRI-related” disputes. This paper ends with short conclusive remarks on the needs to create a shared culture (and knowledge) of international arbitration.
