Abstract

The Operations Management literature has investigated the role of auditing, testing, and inspections, in ensuring socially responsible actions by supply-chain partners. Specifically, studies have examined the auditing of suppliers for noncompliance of socially responsible practices, and the inspection and/or testing of products for social-responsibility violations. In this chapter, we examine this stream of literature and summarize its main insights.

Keywords: social responsibility, supply networks, auditing, inspections, testing
