Abstract

The changing role of library is to transform the services according to the present requirements of the users. Libraries now provide an increasing range of different services, using a various media and reach the more diverse audience than ever before. The impact of open access on the library necessitated continuing the central role by providing free access to information and ideas. Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are online courses that are offer via Internet based platforms to a very large people without charging course fee. MOOCs are transforming the libraries into the learning place and the centre of education. So, academic libraries have an opportunity to facilitate MOOCs for the better exploitation of the library resources. Librarians have greater opportunities for the promoting of MOOCs through libraries. While MOOCs give opportunities, there are many challenges such as copyright, intellectual property rights, licensing, technology, data storage and control, etc.
