Abstract

Purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP) (EC: 2. 4. 2. 1) catalyses the conversion of purine nucleoside and phosphate to purine and α-D-ribose 1-phosphate. As part of the purine salvage pathway, it plays a crucial role in the cell metabolism of nucleosides and nucleotides in an organism. The apoptosis of activated T-cells in humans is due to the deficiency of PNP. The literature on inhibitors of PNP is available. This work will highlight the structural similarity and the QSAR model of the inhibitors.
