Abstract

The interplay between the disciplines of development, economics and human rights is the key to maximising total welfare, because this interdisciplinary approach takes distributional aspects of total welfare into account. Enhancing economic development and protecting human rights are mutually supportive in creating a competitive and innovative society, and human rights considerations must be integrated into policy-making in order to realise the goals of sustainable development.
