Abstract

Twenty-five years ago, I was a graduate student at McGill University’s Faculty of Law. Academia took away a significant chunk of my time with the family. Consequently, I never missed an opportunity to bring my children to visit the university; “my second home” as I used to call it. Years later, I obtained a DCL (Doctor of Civil Law) in international criminal law from McGill. At that moment, I wished that one of my children would earn the same degree one day.
