Abstract
Synthetic pesticides have been used for pest control, in many developed and developing countries since their introduction in 1940s. Synthetic pesticides used in the commercially available products to control pests, to which we are getting exposed either directly or indirectly. In present study we have selected two synthetic pesticides, resmethrin and transfluthrin as toxicants. Study was conducted using an invertebrate model system C.elegans. We performed assays in replicates and one as a vehicle on 4h, 24h, 48h, and 72 hour exposure period at the dose of 2.8 ppm and 12.32 ppm of resmethrin and transfluthrin respectively. Resmethrin and transfluthrin causes significant changes in the various behavioral and developmental endpoints of toxicity in C.elegans. The data indicates that in comparison to resmethrin, transfluthrin causes significant changes in the various behavioral and developmental endpoint of toxicity in C.elegans.
