Abstract

Image processing has its application rooted in the present and various upcoming technologies. Image processing used to perform various operations on an image to obtain useful information. There have been many advances within the sector of image processing within the software domain and hardware domain. We specialize in image processing within the hardware domain by using FPGA, as it provides greater flexibility to figure with it. By literature survey and dealing with MATLAB software, we discover that the LoG algorithm is best than Robert, Prewitt, and Sobel. So that we would be, concentrate on implementing the LoG algorithm, for edge detection because it provides more accuracy about Sobel operator. LoG filter improves the accuracy, performance and image appearance and object boundary localization. We would be using are hardware descriptive language VHDL for implementing the algorithm. For simulation purposes, Xilinx Vivado and MATLAB software platforms are used.

Keywords: FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), Image Processing, Sobel, LoG (Laplacian of Gaussian)
