Abstract

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) recently reemphasized the foundational role of innovation for economic growth and for addressing social and global challenges. The OECD proposed an “Innovation Imperative” for all actors – government, businesses, universities, and civil society. The social and development sectors likewise promote social innovation as a key driver of progress, an imperative to tackle the challenges of the twenty-first century, and social entrepreneurs and their innovations as the key to our social ills.
