Abstract

The QoG Standard data-set is available in both a time-series (TS) version and a cross-section (CS) version. In the TS, set we have data from 1946 to 2014 and the unit of analysis is country-year (e.g. Sweden-1946, Sweden-1947 and so on).

In the CS data-set, we have data from and around 2010. Simply put, we have included data from 2010. If there was no data for that particular year on a variable, we have taken data from the year after and if there was no data for that year, we have taken data from the year before 2010, up to +/- 3 years.

In the code-book you can find a description of all data sources and variables. Detailed descriptions of all variables are sorted by original data sources. We hope that this will facilitate your search for variables.

In 2009, the QoG Standard Dataset received the Lijphart, Przeworski, Verba Award for Best Dataset by the APSA Comparative Politics Section.
