Abstract

This study is focusing on the origin of overtourism. It presents revenue management as one of the main reasons about the origin of overtourism; it argues that overtourism is the consequence of the failure of destinations’ revenue management strategy, because the global tourism market is currently offering too low prices at every stage of the tourist journey.

Keywords: overtourism, revenue management, destination management
