Abstract

Silica gel modified with oligomer semicarbazide-phethalic acid (OSCPA) was prepared and successfully used in separation and pre-concentration of heavy metal ions: Cu +2 ,Co +2 , Ni +2 . The complexes of with Cu(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) with the prepared oligomer during the solid phase extraction have been characterized using elemental analysis, spectral ( 1 H-NMR, IR and UV-Visible spectroscopy) and magnetic measurements. The Cu(II), Co(II), and Ni(II) oligomer complexes are proved to have octahedral dimmer. Thermal analysis (TGA, DTA) and activation energies for the complexes have been calculated. The oligomer greatly enhanced the activity of silica gel for extraction of metal ions from aqueous solution.
