Abstract

The focus on oil and gas (O+G) resources has reached new heights of importance in all the three East African countries of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. From largely being net importers only a few years ago, new commercially-exploitable findings of these crucial resources have made the countries in the region one of the most significant centres of new investment for extractive industries on the continent. Obviously, considerable excitement abounds on account of the belief that the countries are potentially set to become significant exporters of these resources and thus greatly improve their economic fortunes.
