Academic Stress: Its Relationship to Learning Attitude

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between academic stress and learning attitude among public and private high school students of Guiuan. The descriptive-correlational study involved 556 junior students specifically grade 9 of public and private high schools of Guiuan district. To determine the profile of students’ academic stress and students’ learning attitude, a survey questionnaire was used. The Pearson-Product Moment Coefficient was the statistical tool used to examine the relationships between variables.
Based on the collected data, the findings revealed that majority of respondents had moderate academic stress. For the students’ learning attitude, most of the respondents had a moderate level of interest.
Meanwhile, the relationship between Academic Stress and Learning Attitude considered to be statistically significant having p< 0.001 and computed r value of -.166 which means a weak correlation between the two variables. Therefore, academic stress experienced by the students has an influenced on students learning attitude.
