Abstract
The regime of the autonomous administrative authorities is enshrined both at constitutional level, in accordance with article 117 of the Romanian Constitution and the laws establishing the organic nature of these authorities, which develops content and consequences of these authorities. Moreover, the stipulation of some of these bodies at the constitutional shows not only their importance but also their complexity and consequently, the responsibility of persons working in these institutions. The Romanian Ombudsman – Avocatul Poporului, is an autonomous administrative body, created in accordance with the constitution. Thus, the aim of the paper is to analyze which are the characteristics of the Romanian Ombudsman as autonomous administrative institution and the place of this body in the Romanian administrative system.
