Abstract

This article examines the legal implications of Constitution (Amendment) Bill No.10 of 2019 on the Constitutional presumption of equality before the law. I will argue that there is nothing as detrimental to this presumption as the enactment of laws and or the governmental exercise of power that has the effect of prescribing the religious practices of its citizens. This fundamental aspect has been missing from the discourse surrounding the creation and passage of the Bill. this paper is therefore an attempt to fill that intellectual vacuum and bring public awareness of the need for an inclusive as a fundamental democratic tenet.
