Abstract
Goal: This article aims to identify the Tanah Lot Temple Cultural and Heritage Tourism Attraction Management Model.
Design / Methodology / Approach: The primary data are collected by observation, and interview in Bali Indonesia. This study also uses secondary research available in various scientific publications related to tourism based on cultural heritage. Meanwhile, data and information gathered are analyzed with the analysis tool of the Irritation Index. The result of the analysis is then compared to supporting theoretical framework and previous research results that share similarities to the current research.
Results: The management of Tanah Lot Tourism Attraction that has yet to implement the concept of Carrying Capacity will enable frictions to happen between visitors vying for prime spots to visit or view certain spots within the temple area in order to best enjoy the main attractions of Tanah Lot such as the sunset, thus decreasing their enjoyment. The increase in sheer numbers of visitors without paying attention to an object's carrying capacity tends to trigger damage for the local environment including physical and non-physical damages to the cultural heritage of Tanah Lot
Limitations of the investigation: The analysis is limited by the framework of cultural tourism management study.
Practical implications: Tanah Lot Temple Cultural and Heritage Tourism Attraction Management Model should be managed by the principle of establishing the social tourism carrying capacity as follow: (1) Plan and control development and marketing optimally by carrying capacity. (2) Visitor management and control in-out optimally by carrying capacity. (3) The policymakers prepare a couple of solutions by PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, and Action) and focus on the main function and optionally. (4) Focused on promotion that balances the dwindling image of the destination in line with carrying capacity principles.
Originality / Value: The result of the analysis is then compared to supporting theoretical framework and previous research results that share similarities to the current research. This article contributes with this gap in the literature.
