Abstract

In this book review, I explore the role of religion in the public square by analyzing secularism and the project to sanitize religion. I discuss this collection of essays as probing the secularization project of managing the practices and bodies of ordinary people, in general, and racialized others, in particular, and their exercise of power.

Keywords: secularism, race, religion, public square
