Abstract

CdS is a popular alternative of solar cell as window layer for its wide optical band gap (2.42 eV). In this present work CdS films were deposited using thermal evaporation on glass substrate followed by thermal annealing at different temperature 250ºC, 300ºC and 350ºC respectively. Physical properties of these annealed films were then investigated using UV-VIS spectrophotometer, XRD, SEM for its optical, structural and surface morphology respectively. The optical band gaps are found in the range of 2.40 to 2.35 eV and grain size also increased as the annealing temperature increases. Again transmission spectra reveal that it transmits most of the light incident on it.
