Abstract

The current paper offers an extensive array of advice – framed around so-called “rules of engagement” – for budding researchers on how to optimize their experience in prospectively applying the “Pitching Research” [Faff (2015, 2021)] framework to their research setting. This guidance amounts to a comprehensive collection of “how to” tips, that land within one of 3 key segments within the pitching template. Specifically, the “rules” are organized in relation to: (a) the 4-dimensional “Big Picture Framing” part; (b) the 3-dimensional “Basic Building Blocks” part; or (c) the “Why this Study?” part (comprising the 2 “Key Questions”, 1 “Bottom-line and Other Considerations).

Keywords: new research ideas; pitching framework; template; simple tips
