Abstract

India is basically an agrarian economy in which around 70% of its population is still residing in rural area. Agriculture sector contributes approx.15.4 percent to the GDP of India, so due to this the development of Agriculture sector is essential. Cooperatives are playing significant role in the development of agriculture sector and eliminating the exploitation of farmers by freeing them from clutches of money lenders, basically by lending credit to the farmers to fulfill their financial needs. Cooperatives covers almost 97% of the rural area, as cooperatives are having their branches to the grass root level. The purpose of the paper is to know about the satisfaction level of the beneficiaries who have availed credit from cooperatives and it also discusses the problems faced by them at the time of credit acquisition. Structured questionnaires are drafted to gather the data from 100 farmers who have taken credit from cooperatives of Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan. The data is collected using Likert scale.
