Abstract

Declining Mental Wellbeing, increased aggression in behavior and reduced attention span are raising concerns of modern society. Organizations are not untouched by them as these problems seem to affect the performance of employees. These problems have started affecting younger members of society also. The issue of Children’s behavior at school is of much concern to all as it not only affects the learning ability of the child but also his overall development. Schools make efforts to try different methods and practices to overcome such issues. One such experiment was conducted by the Heartfulness Institute at Global Indian International School, Abu Dhabi. In this 12 weeks experiment, the effect of “Heartfulness Intervention” was studied on three parameters – The ability to control Aggressive Behaviour, Wellbeing, and Attention Span. 90 subjects were divided into two groups and the observations made at pre and post level were analyzed using statistical tools like t-test. The results show that there is a significant improvement in the “Attention Span” of subjects of the experimental group. The study recommends “Heartfulness Intervention” as a tool to be used for improving Attention Span. The findings of the study apply to children as well as adults as the problems dealt with in this experiment are universal and not confined to any age group.
