Abstract

The article begins with a review of the legislation which established the courts. From there, the article reviews the organization of the courts and discusses a number of their recent decisions. The article next examines the relationship between these new courts and the long-established Maritime Arbitration Commission (MAC) in Beijing. Finally, the article speculates on the likely future of these courts.
