Çin'de Yelpaze Kültürü ve Yelpazenin Tarihsel Gelişimindeki Sembolozmi ('Fan' Culture in China and the Symbolism of Chinese Fan on Historical Development)

Abstract

Turkish Abstract: Kültür, medeniyetleri var eden ve beşeri ilişkileri düzenleyen bir oluşum olarak insanlık tarihiyle doğrudan ilişkilendirilir. Şartlar her ne olursa olsun çağlar boyunca her toplumun kültürel bir birikimin izleriyle yoğrulduğu söylenebilir. Dünya tarihindeki en köklü uygarlıklardan biri olan Çin ise, oldukça zengin bir kültür birikimine sahiptir. Öyle ki edebiyat, felsefe ya da sanat gibi alanlar, Çin toplumunun yaşayan değerlerinden yalnızca bir kısmıdır. Çünkü bu birikim, Çin’in tarihsel gelişimiyle birlikte yol almaya başlayarak günümüz dünyasına dek korunan bir miras niteliği gösterir. Böylesi bir miras, ancak birbirinden farklı kültürel öğelerle birlikte varlığını sürdürebilir. Bu kültürel öğelerin en eski örneklerinden biri ise “yelpaze”dir. İlk biçimlerinin Çin topraklarında ortaya çıktığı bilinen “yelpaze”, Çin sanatının ayrılmaz bir parçası kabul edilir. Fakat yelpazenin etki alanı yalnızca sanatla sınırlı kalmamıştır. Antik dönemlerden itibaren Çin felsefesi ve toplumsal gelenekler kapsamında çok sayıda sembolik anlam taşımış; müzikle bütünleşmiş ve hatta şiirlere konu olmuş ve böylece edebi bir değer kazanmıştır. Geçen zamanla birlikte Çin yelpazesi, Çin sınırlarını aşarak Batılı toplumlara ulaşmış ve böylece dünya çapına yayılarak popüler hale gelmiştir.

English Abstract: Culture is directly related to the history of humanity that constitutes a basis to civilizations and human relations. Through the ages, each nation has mingled with traces of a cultural background in all circumstances. China, one of the most long-established civilizations in the world history, considerably has a rich cultural background. In fact, fields such as literature, philosophy or art, is only a part of the living value of the Chinese people. Because the background, is a heritage which has begun to proceed with China's historical development and has been protected until today’s world. Such a heritage, can purely continue the existence with different cultural elements from each other. So, “fan” is one of the oldest samples of those cultural elements. “Fan” which is known to arise in the Chinese territory with its first forms, is considered as an indivisible part of Chinese art. However, the influences of the fan does not remain limited with Chinese art. Since ancient times, the fan has had many symbolic meanings within Chinese philosophy and national traditions, has communed with music and also has subjected to poetry and so raised in value of literary. In time, the fan has reached to the West going beyond the borders of Chinese territory. After that, Chinese fan become popular with spreading to the worldwide. In this study, the historical process of the Chinese fan will be discussed in formal changes on different periods to analyze the basis of the symbolism with semantic and descriptive aspects. Consequently, the place and importance of the fan in Chinese culture will be examined.
