Abstract

This study examined the student’s conceptions of disease before taking the immunology course to identify the possible obstacles to its learning. Taking a population of students in the first year of Baccalaureate Experimental Sciences (Ex Sc) from four private and public secondary school in the Northern Province of Morocco as the sample of study, the survey took place in a context where the Moroccan education system suffers from major dysfunctions. An analytical descriptive approach is implemented in order to stem out the analysis of data collected. We have shown that these conceptions admit a twofold function: they form, on the one hand, obstacles to the acquisition of immunological knowledge; they represent, on the other hand, an indispensable wealth to mobilize in the construction of new learning.
