Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is considered the promising mechanics in the twentieth century. Usually, a sensor network operates with limited battery power. So, power proficiency is one of the major research concerns in WSN. Maximizing the lifetime of WSN, proper cluster head (CH) selection strategy is the key research interest for the researcher. For our proposed protocol considers five parameters, neighbor node number, the distance among CHs and the base station (BS), one hop neighbor data, remaining energy, and sensing area of a sensor. The possibilities of unnecessary CH selection which are caused by the energy wastage are reduced in WSN. The distance between the two CH is adjusted with their sensing area. The proposed protocol is tested and compare with contemporary works. The simulation was performed by the OMNeT++ simulation tool. Our proposed protocol shows significant improvement concerning network lifespan and power consumption.
